Aeolian Winds — Piano & Flute Duo

Venti Aeoli Duo — Sofia Oleinik & Mariia Gapon

Based in Bern, Switzerland 🇨🇭

SoFi Oleinik & Mariia Gapon

SoFi and Mariia, originally from Russia, form an inspiring and dynamic flute and piano duo. Currently continuing their studies at the Bern University of the Arts, they bring together rich musical traditions and fresh artistic energy.

Mariia comes from Saint Petersburg, where she graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, while SoFi was born in Moscow and completed her education at the Tchaikovsky Academic Music College at the Moscow State Conservatory. Alongside their musical pursuits, both study drawing and explore a wide range of artistic interests, including dance.

Their duo, Venti Aeoli, presents a versatile and thoughtfully curated program for flute and piano, spanning from Bach and the elegance of the French repertoire to contemporary works. Their performances are distinguished by a refined musical dialogue, stylistic authenticity, and artistic depth, offering audiences both clarity of interpretation and a profound musical experience.

The name Venti Aeoli — “Aeolian Winds” — is inspired by Aeolus, the ancient Greek god of the winds. Just as the winds have different directions and characters, the duo reflects a dialogue between diverse musical traditions, bringing a fresh perspective to their performances. With every note, SoFi and Mariia aim to convey movement, lightness, and vitality, creating a sense of openness and energy in the music they share.
